REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Remedial massage is a type of treatment which aims to assess and treat pain and dysfunction. It can assist in treating muscles that are tight, knotted or immobile or a number of other problems that may affect muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue.
The aim of Remedial Massage is to manipulate soft tissues of the body, as well as influence muscle movement to provide a specific therapeutic effect, rather than a generalized approach. This can aid in reducing or eliminating pain and restoring normal movement and function within the body. It can speed up recovery and improve the healing process.
Remedial massage involves a range of manual therapy techniques such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy and myofascial release which focus on treating specific injuries and dysfunction. The site of pain and dysfunction may not always be the origin of the problem so assessment is an important part of the treatment process. This can include: physical assessment, range of movement testing and functional muscle testing, to identify a focus for the treatment. Assessment of the presenting issues allows for a focused treatment using relevant techniques and movements according to the bodies needs and responses.
Common conditions that may benefit from a Remedial Massage session include; sciatica, rotator cuff related pain, bursitis, golfers elbow, migraines, neck pain and postural issues.
