REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial massage is a hands-on treatment that aims to assess and treat pain, movement restrictions and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Whether you're dealing with a sporting injury, muscle tightness, postural strain or persistent aches and pains, remedial massage is designed to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms—not just where you feel them. At JP Bodywise, remedial massage treatments are tailored to your individual needs. Every session begins with an assessment because the site of pain isn't always the source of the problem.

How does remedial massage work?

Remedial massage works by assessing and treating muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and other soft tissues that may be contributing to pain or restricted movement. The goal is to restore normal movement, reduce discomfort, improve function and support your body's natural recovery process.

Rather than following the same routine for every client, treatment is guided by your assessment and how your body responds throughout the session.

What happens during a remedial massage appointment?

Your treatment begins with an assessment, which may include:

  • Postural assessment

  • Range of movement testing

  • Functional muscle testing

This allows the treatment to focus on the tissues and movement patterns contributing to your symptoms, rather than simply treating the area that hurts.

Depending on your needs, your treatment may incorporate a range of evidence-informed techniques, including:

  • Deep Tissue Massage

  • Sports Massage

  • Trigger Point Therapy

  • Myofascial Release

  • Dry Needling

  • Functional Release Cupping

  • Assisted Stretching

  • Joint Mobilisation

Every treatment is individualised, and not every technique is used in every session. You can request techniques to be included or excluded as you wish too.

What can remedial massage help with?

Remedial massage may help with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Neck and shoulder pain

  • Lower back pain

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Sciatica

  • Rotator cuff-related shoulder pain

  • Golfer's and Tennis Elbow

  • Muscle tightness and stiffness

  • Sports injuries

  • Training recovery

  • Postural discomfort

  • Reduced mobility

Whether your goal is to reduce pain, recover from an injury, improve mobility or keep performing at your best, remedial massage can form an important part of your recovery plan.
